The short answerTurn on Gmail's templates for answers you send often, use Smart Compose and keyboard shortcuts, and write every reply in three parts: the answer, the detail, the next step. For everything else, NOVA Ink can draft a reply from the thread in one tap. You check it and press Send.

1. Save your common answers as templates

In Gmail, open Settings, choose See all settings, go to Advanced and enable Templates. Then write a reply, open the three-dot menu in the compose window, and choose Templates, then Save draft as template. Next time, insert it from the same menu.

2. Turn on Smart Compose

In Settings, under General, turn on Smart Compose. Gmail suggests the rest of your sentence as you type. Press Tab to accept it.

3. Learn four keyboard shortcuts

Turn on keyboard shortcuts in Settings, under General. Then:

  • r to reply, a to reply all
  • f to forward
  • e to archive
  • Ctrl + Enter to send

4. Write in three parts

Most replies need only three things: the answer, the one detail that matters, and what happens next.

Yes, Thursday at 2 pm works.
I'll bring the updated quote.
Send me the address and I'll confirm the night before.

5. Reply in batches

Answer email two or three times a day instead of the moment it arrives. You write faster when you are in the flow of replying.

6. Cut the warm-up

Skip "I hope this email finds you well" and "I just wanted to reach out". Start with the answer. Your reader will thank you.

7. Draft the reply from the thread

With NOVA Ink in Chrome or Edge, click Reply and tap Draft reply. It writes a draft from the last 3 messages in the thread, in gray. Make it Shorter, Warmer or Firmer, press Insert, check it, and press Send yourself. NOVA Ink never sends anything for you, and its Check before Send flags issues before your email goes out.
