Your phone answered and the job booked while you’re on the tools
Ora by NOVA rings New Zealand businesses for you and answers your phone, in a natural Kiwi voice. It only says what you’ve approved, and it always says it’s an AI.
Veronica is our own Ora: ring her and hear it for yourself. Setting up and practice calls are free, no card needed. What its first 34 sales calls taught us.

What is Ora?
Ora is an AI caller and receptionist for New Zealand businesses. It works through call lists you approve, answers your phone when you can’t, and turns every conversation into a lead with a follow-up task. It learns your business from your website, and it only ever states the facts you’ve approved.
Makes your sales calls. Upload a list of NZ businesses. It calls in your hours, asks before it pitches, and books the keen ones in.
Answers your phone. Questions answered from your approved facts, details taken, times booked and urgent calls put through to you.
Turns calls into leads. Every call ends with a transcript, a summary, the lead at the right stage and the next task on your list.
A scripted demo in Veronica’s real voice, recorded the way it sounds on a phone. Harbour Plumbing and Mike are made up for the demo.

Mike Hello?
Veronica Kia ora, is this Harbour Plumbing?
Mike Yeah, yep, Mike speaking.
Veronica Hey Mike, it's Veronica from NOVA, we're a software company here in New Zealand. I'm actually an AI assistant, just so you know. Have you got a quick sec?
Mike An AI, eh? Yeah, go on then. I'm under a sink right now, so.
Veronica No worries. When you're flat out on jobs, do your quotes ever end up just sitting there, waiting for you to chase them?
Mike Yeah, all the time, honestly. I send them out and if they don't ring back, they don't ring back.
Veronica Mm, yeah. That's actually what our software does. It's called JENA. It follows up every quote for you, and nothing gets sent until you okay it.
Mike Huh. Right, that'd actually help.
Veronica Want me to flick you a link so you can try it free this week?
Mike Yeah, alright, why not. Send it to mike@harbourplumbing.co.nz.
Veronica mike@harbourplumbing.co.nz, got it. The team will send it through today. Cheers Mike, I'll let you get back to that sink!
Mike Yeah, cheers. See ya.
How it works
It learns your business
Ora reads your website and drafts what it may say. You check every line and approve it. Nothing else is said on a call.
You approve who it calls
Upload a call list of NZ businesses. A named person approves each number for the day, inside your calling hours and daily limit.
It calls, and you follow up
It says it’s an AI, listens, and answers from your facts. Keen people land in Leads with a task for you.
100 call minutes a month · Answering and sales calls · Approved facts only · Leads, tasks and transcripts · New Zealand voice and 22 languages · Do-not-call list and calling hours · Dashboard and phone app
Prices in New Zealand dollars, plus GST, billed monthly. We email you at 80% and 100% of your minutes. At 100%, sales calls pause and your phone is still answered for 20% more. There are no extra-minute charges; upgrade any time. Starter comes with our first-month promise (see Questions below). Setting up and practice calls are free; choose a plan when you’re ready for real calls.
Start with Ora today
1. Create your account
Sign up with your email and business name. It’s free to set up, with no card needed.
2. Teach it and practise
Ora reads your website and drafts what it may say. Approve the facts, pick a voice, and practise calls in your browser.
3. Go live
Choose a plan, connect your own Twilio number, and Ora starts answering and making the calls you approve.
Set Ora up, and if you’re not happy with how it handled your real calls in your first paid month on Starter, we’ll refund that month. Setup means you approved the facts Ora may say, set your calling hours, made at least 3 practice calls and connected your phone number. Email admin@deskwithnova.com within 30 days of your first payment. We refund the Starter plan fee for that month, GST included, to the card you paid with within 10 working days, once per business. It doesn’t cover charges from your phone provider (Twilio). This promise is in addition to your rights under New Zealand law.
Who sets it up?
Bjorn, NOVA’s founder, sets up the first 10 Ora businesses himself, on a video call or in person in Auckland. After that, setup is self-serve with our step-by-step guide, and the Team plan is set up with a NOVA person.
What is Ora?
Ora is an AI caller and receptionist for New Zealand businesses. It makes sales calls from call lists you approve, answers your phone, and turns every call into a lead with a follow-up task. It speaks in a natural New Zealand voice and says it is an AI.
Does Ora tell people it's an AI?
Yes, on every call. Its greeting checks it has the right business, and its first reply says who is calling, from which company, and that it is an AI assistant. If anyone asks, it says so again. It never pretends to be a person.
Can Ora book into my calendar and send emails?
Yes, if you connect your Google account in Ora’s Settings. With one click, Ora can book appointments in your Google Calendar, in your opening hours and only in free times, and email people from your Gmail or Google Workspace address when they ask for something by email. Ora only sees whether a time is free or busy; it never reads your emails or your existing events. You can disconnect at any time. Other email providers can be connected with your mailbox login. See our privacy policy for how Google data is handled.
Could it say something about my business that isn't true?
It only states facts you have approved. Ora drafts them from your website, you check every line, and nothing is used on a call until you approve it. What you don't offer is listed too, so it says no plainly instead of guessing.
Who does Ora call, and when?
Only New Zealand business numbers on lists you upload, only after a named person approves them for that day, only in your calling hours and within a daily limit, and never anyone on your do-not-call list. It tries twice at most, four hours apart, and hangs up without speaking if it reaches voicemail.
How fast does it reply?
In our own test calls it started answering in under a second after the other person stopped talking, about the gap you would expect from a person.
What languages can it speak?
22, including New Zealand English, te reo Māori, Mandarin, Hindi, Punjabi, Korean, Japanese, Filipino and Vietnamese. Greetings are translated for you to check before any call.
What happens after a call?
You get the transcript and a short summary. The person becomes a lead at the right stage, with a follow-up task when one is owed, and you can send leads and tasks to your CRM through Zapier, Make, JENA or our API.
How much does Ora cost?
From NZ$149 a month plus GST for 100 call minutes. Growth is NZ$349 for 400 minutes and Team is NZ$790 for 1,000 minutes across up to three businesses.
